Councillor Sean Anstee has heralded the move for reducing low paid workers’ reliance on tax credits while Labour MP for Manchester Central Lucy Powell dismissed the chancellor’s move as a ‘sleight of hand’ that would leave Manchester workers out of pocket.
The figures shows that between 2010 and 2014 jobs growth in London (11.5%) was more than twice as fast as the UK as a whole (5.1%) and SIX times as fast as the North West (1.8%).
The TUC will stage a national demonstration in Manchester this autumn against the government’s austerity agenda and attacks on trade unions.
