Labour’s Jonathan Reynolds survived a scare from the Conservative party to be re-elected in Stalybridge & Hyde.

Labour has held on to the seat of Denton and Reddish for another election, one of few spots in the Red Wall that has stayed intact in an election of decimation for Labour.

Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner was re-elected in Ashton-under-Lyne, but saw her majority decrease by 12.3% to 48.1%.

Denton and Reddish has traditionally been staunchly Labour, with Andrew Gwynne steering the ship since 2005. He has also served in the Shadow Cabinet under various guises: most recently, as Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
