On Monday, Lancashire announced that big-hitting Australian Glenn Maxwell will return for this season’s T20 Blast.

However, with the recently-proposed Hundred competition – the ECB’s answer to glitzy T20 tournaments like the Indian Premier League and Australia’s Big Bash – the move away from county cricket has the potential to alienate masses of loyal cricket fans.

Lancashire were crowned t20 Blast Champions for the first time in their long history last weekend, despite doubts over the side both before the season’s start, and before finals day itself.

Ashley Giles is excited ahead of Saturday’s T20 Finals Day, and hopes that his Lancashire side can enjoy a ‘dream day’ to banish the memories of last year’s failure.

The former England and Lancashire all-rounder returns after a four-year absence from the game to play for Glen Chapple’s Lancashire Lightning Squad this season.
