Wigan welcome managerless Swindon to the DW on Saturday looking to maintain their good recent run and add more misery to the visitors.
Latics’ sit pretty in fifth and are now unbeaten in eight games but the Robins lie in 23rd position having lost seven of the last nine.
Swindon chairman Lee Power has placed himself in caretaker charge of the team whilst the search for a new manager continues into another week.
Wigan, yet to lose at home this season will see this as a good opportunity to pick up three points but Gary Caldwell is wary of the threat that they may cause.
“A chairman taking charge of the first team doesn’t happen very often in football, but Lee (Power) is obviously someone who knows football,” he said.
“His team play a very expansive game, they play some excellent football and I think their league position doesn’t give a true reflection on how good a team they can be on their day.
“They’re going to be a team who’ll cause us a lot of problems and we have to be ready for another massive game.
“If we’re not ready then we’ll struggle because they are a very good football team.”
Overall though, Caldwell is happy with the recent performances of his team and wants to see more in the coming weeks.
“The recent run of games has shown how good a team we can be, but I think there’s a lot of improvement still to come,” he said.
“The players are working very hard to try and get that, and I’m looking forward to working with them because they’re an excellent group.”
Wigan will have a fully fit squad to choose from again with the exception of long-term absentee Kevin McNaughton.
Swindon midfielder Fabien Robert, who made a return to the team last weekend, is a doubt for the game.
