Manchester United fans around the planet are donning red all week as they seek to impress on social media with a quirky outfit for Friday’s ‘kit day’.
Branded as #MUFCkitday on Twitter, fans will have plenty of choice as United have worn three different kits on their USA Tour, traditional red against LA Galaxy in the 7-0 drubbing, white against AS Roma (United won again, 3-2) and blue against Inter Milan, which Louis van Gaal’s men edged 5-3 on penalties.

United write on their website: “Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, we’d love you to wear a home shirt as you go about your daily duties.
“We realise it’s not possible for everybody to wear a football kit to work or when you’re out and about. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still get creative and get involved.
“Perhaps you have a pair of MUFC socks. Or maybe some cufflinks, a tie or a pendant […] Even if you just add a splash of red to your outfit – a hair clip, a belt, some nail polish – it all counts.”
And fans are already going crazy for the social media experiment, some even kitting out their babies in the Red Devils’ uniform.
We want you, the fans, to show your colours on Friday 1 August by donning red in support of #MUFCkitday…. http://t.co/RUsYkJFmEl
