Salford Red Devils are Super League sleeping giants says Hull FC coach, happy to take ‘underdogs’ tag

Hull FC are hoping the moment Salford Red Devils click into place like a well-oiled machine is not during this evening’s clash at the KC Stadium.

Inspired by the return of Rangi Chase, coach Brian Noble (pictured above) and his Salford troops ended the unbeaten start of Castleford Tigers and will be looking for their first ever victory at the KC Stadium.

Having lost their previous two fixtures, including a 7-0 defeat last time out against Widnes Vikings, Hull head coach Lee Radford believes that Salford are the favourites for the clash.

“They’re a quality side on paper and when they get it right they’re really going to put some points on somebody,” Radford told the club’s website.

“Marwan has spent a fortune assembling the squad they’ve got and if they stay fit they’re going to be there or thereabouts at the end of the year, so it’s going to be tough.

“But we went to into Sunday’s game against Widnes as favourites and never performed so with the team we’ve got out this week, we’ll go into this game as underdogs and we’ll see what changes that mentality brings.”

Salford will be hoping to have a large section of vocal support at the KC Stadium with the club providing free coach travel for away fans.

Elsewhere at the club, Marwan Koukash has expressed his disappointment after his wife’s (Mandy Koukash) bid for control of Bradford Bulls was rejected in favour of local businessman Marc Green.

The outspoken owner of the club told Sky Sports News: “First of all I want to congratulate Marc Green for successful takeover – for his successful bid.

“Mandy obviously is very upset and I am very angry for her as well because I think no-one in the last couple of weeks has made a courtesy call to thank her for a bid, or to tell her of the outcome, and we are having to hear the news through the media.

“It should upset everyone in rugby league because what you have is a potential investor who was willing to invest almost £1million into Bradford this year – or into rugby league in general – so why not grab and welcome these people?

“Even if their bid is not successful you should be in contact with them and encouraging them to stay in the sport.”
