Carlos Tevez finally waves ciao to Manchester as Juventus and City agree £12million deal

By Colin Rhodes

Carlos Tevez is waving ciao to Manchester City as his £12million move to Juventus is almost complete.

Representatives from the Italian giants flew into England yesterday to meet City officials and hammer out a deal for the Argentinian striker.

Tevez, 29, has yet to agree personal terms and that may means the deal is not yet complete and he may not immediately fly to Turin for a medical.

Sources in Italy last night suggested that Tevez will earn £4.6million a year in Italy with substantial bonuses based on appearances and goals. The initial deal is worth £10million yet is likely to rise to £12million with add-ons.

This would represent a near halving of the terms which saw him brought to City from Old Trafford.

The Blues were keen to be rid of the £200,000 a week wages that Tevez demanded, as they seek to comply with the strict rules laid down in Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regime.

New City boss Manuel Pellegrini will need to bolster his attacking options as the move will leave city with just two experienced strikers – Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero, who recently signed a new deal at the club.

The fee, which could rise to £12million represents a significant loss to the club on the fee they paid Manchester United for the forward in 2009.

However, City are keen to recoup some of the fee rather than let Tevez walk away for nothing when his contract ends at the end of next season.

Tevez can’t be too upset to be finally leaving Manchester, as he infamously lashed out at the city, claiming it bored him.

“There’s nothing to do in Manchester,” Tevez told an Argentine chat show in 2011. “There’s two restaurants and everything’s small. It rains all the time, you can’t go anywhere. There comes a moment where you say ‘where am I going to go with my family?’ and you begin to feel bad.”
