Rochdale manager Keith Hill says there will be no complacency in his table-topping side when they travel to Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday.
Tuesday’s late comeback against Northampton was Dale’s eighth win in nine games and saw them hit the League Two front for the first time this season.
But opponents Dagenham have also enjoyed a successful week picking up four points from two away fixtures and Hill won’t be taking the Daggers, managed by close friend Wayne Burnett, lightly.
“I think he (Burnett) is an excellent manager and he wants to play the right way,” Hill, who played with the Dagenham boss at Blackburn and Plymouth, told The Dale Player after the win in mid-week.
“It could be a good match up for us but we won’t overestimate or underestimate any side.
“I don’t play the league table just the opposition.”
In-form forward Ian Henderson on the other hand, who has three goals in his last two matches, cannot hide his delight at Dale’s lofty league position.
“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel amazing,” Henderson also told The Dale Player.
“The team spirit and morale is incredible and you can see when we’re out on the pitch the togetherness and desire to want to get promoted.
“It’s an infectious changing room at the moment.”
The former Norwich player is also conscious that he and his team-mates are now wanted men, but believes Dale’s passing game can outshine many a League Two opponent.
“Teams are going to be competitive with us regardless of who they are, we’ve just got to implement our style of football on the game,” he added.
“We know if we pass the ball how we can, with a fizz and a direction, we’ll beat most teams in the league.”
