Manchester United fans will feel a sense of nostalgia and romance when they look into the home dugout at Old Trafford this Saturday.
Four of their most famous academy graduates will be joining forces once again to try and put United back on its feet.
Ryan Giggs has been announced interim manager following the sacking of David Moyes and will be joined on the bench by Paul Scholes, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt.
Four names that are etched in United folklore and are members of the famous Class of ’92.
Alongside David Beckham and Gary Neville the group, nicknamed ‘Fergie’s Fledglings’, rose through the ranks at Old Trafford to become household names and trophy winning first-team regulars.
Following the torturous season United fans have endured, seeing such successful players leading the team until the end of the season at least will provide some much needed joy.
March 20 2004 is the last time the four of them shared the Old Trafford turf together for the Reds, as they ran out convincing 3-0 winners over Tottenham Hotspurs.
And against Norwich on Saturday, the players who were such an integral part of so many successes under Sir Alex Ferguson, including the Treble win, will look to mastermind a revival in fortunes.
Certainly they will command respect from the dressing room which appeared to be the undoing of Moyes towards the end of his brief tenure.
These are players who are United through and through and will bring back some of the club spirit and swagger than has been absent throughout the season.
Collectively, the four have made 2,453 appearances for the Red Devils bringing with them a wealth of experience and a winning mentality.
It is the coaching staff of dreams for United fans, but whether there is enough experience to be anything more than an interim team is open to debate.
What is for certain though is that the club desperately need a lift and the presence of such legends is sure to heighten the atmosphere and build excitement with the fans – where only nervousness and dread has been present this campaign.
The Class of ’92 are the most successful home grown group in modern British football history.
Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Butt are four players every United fan would want to go in to battle for the club and that is exactly what will happen this weekend.
Ten years on from the last time they appeared at Old Trafford on the same team, four of the clubs most famous sons are reunited where it all began.
