A Premier League winner in his debut season at Old Trafford, Shinji Kagawa is disappointed with his contribution to Manchester United’s title glory.
Kagawa suffered a frustrating season, hampered by injury for long spells, but impressed Sir Alex Ferguson enough to force Wayne Rooney into a new role recently.
But the Japanese international feels he has a lot more to offer and is not yet reproducing the form he showed at former club Borussia Dortmund.
“I was looking to produce even more results,” he said. “I was injured and I felt things didn’t go well easily.
“I had a lot of conflict, frustration and worries. In that sense, I think it has been a profound year.
“Honestly, I haven’t contributed as much as I did at Dortmund. I was even injured. I still don’t quite have that feeling of accomplishment.”
The 24-year-old arrived at Old Trafford last summer following two Bundesliga titles with Dortmund, adding a third consecutive league winners medal to his name with United on Monday night.
And having shown his potential with five goals in his first season at Old Trafford, including a hat-trick against Norwich, the midfielder expects his career to go from strength to strength.
“I’ve managed to win three in a row,” he added. “I think my career is bound to get better and better.”
