Oldham Athletic has today announced that head coach Keith Curle has left the club by mutual consent.
Last night’s 2-1 defeat to Northampton Town left the Latics 22nd in League Two, two points clear of the relegation zone after a run of one win in six league games.
Assistant Colin West also leaves the club, with Selim Benachour stepping up from the academy to assume interim duties.
The club statement also said: “We would like to thank Keith for his efforts during his time at Boundary Park and would also like to wish him well for the future.”
Times have been particularly difficult at Boundary Park of late due to protests against the owner, Abdallah Lemsagam.
The fanbase feel he has not acted in the best interests of the club.
A major demonstration was held before the home game against Hartlepool United on September 18.
An investigation conducted by The Athletic earlier this year discovered that players and staff were told: “If you want paying, you can come and get it in cash.”
Independent supporters group Push The Boundary have spoken out on Curle’s departure, stating: “The biggest problem [still] needs addressing.”
The club have stated there will be no further comment on the matter until a successor is found.
