Altrincham surrendered a two-goal lead at home to ten-man Boston United in a thrilling second half to draw 2-2.
Two goals within a minute from Alex Newby and Regan Linney should have been enough for the Robins to get their fourth win of the National League campaign.
But the newly-promoted side continued their impressive away record as Keaton Moore and Cameron Green rescued a point.
In a scrappy first half, Boston created the better chances, forcing Ethan Ross into several good saves.
But the game sparked into life after 50 minutes when Boston’s goalkeeper Cameron Gregory was sent off for bringing down Justin Amaluzor halfway into the Boston half.
Elliot Osborne was the first to seriously threaten for Altrincham when his shot from outside the box rattled the crossbar.
And after 66 minutes Altrincham got the breakthrough when Newby drilled his strike into the bottom corner.
A minute later Regan Linney got his third goal of the season to double Altrincham’s lead when he was played in down the left-hand side.
But Boston got a goal back after 78 minutes when Moore smashed a rebound into the roof of the net.
And they completed their comeback six minutes later when Green’s strike from the left side of the box found the bottom corner, to maintain a record of one away defeat this season.
Although Altrincham looked likely to find a winner, they failed to test Ellis Craven in Boston’s goal despite the 11 additional minutes.
Altrincham manager, Phil Parkinson said: “We’ve got to be better than we showed in those moments defensively but up the other end of the pitch we have to be far more clinical.”
After dropping two points at home, last season’s playoff semi-finalists are 17th with 12 points from the opening 10 games.
But Parkinson said: “We have got ambitions of being in and around the play offs this season.”
Both sides return to action on Tuesday night. Altrincham host Dagenham & Redbridge, whilst Boston United travel to Gateshead.
