Manchester City are thought to be lining up a bid for want-away Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after being priced out of a move for Napoli’s Edison Cavani.
The Liverpool star is likely to be available for less than the £54million Napoli want for his Uruguayan team mate Cavani.
Suarez has made no secret of the fact that he wants to leave the Merseyside club but new City boss Manuel Pellegrini may require all his powers of persuasion as Suarez has made no secret of the fact he wants to leave English football altogether.
Pellegrini, who is reportedly unhappy that he has failed to secure Malaga’s Isco who looks set to sign for Real Madrid, is keen to seal a deal to bring Suarez to the Etihad Stadium as soon as possible.
Liverpool officials have stated that they do not want to lose their 26-year-old striker, but after hearing the comments that have been made by the Uruguayan while he has been away at the Confederations Cup in Brazil, they are no doubt ready to listen to offers. Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all thought to be interested.
Liverpool would expect a considerable return on the £23million they paid Ajax for the player in January 2011.
