Manchester City stars Alvaro Negredo and Pablo Zabaleta put a season of ups-and-downs behind them yesterday by showing off their skills outside the Town Hall yesterday.
The Latino pair traded keepy-uppies with elite development and academy players, including goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who put down his gloves to mix it with the first-teamers.
Filmed in full view of passing Blues supporters, the video gave them a chance to get a sneak peak of a new City advert that is set to be released soon.
“We’ve just been keeping the ball up,” said Gunn. “They asked me to do a few skills but I’ve not got any!”
The City duo will soon be strutting their stuff on the world stage with Zabaleta a sure-fire pick for the Argentina squad while Negredo has a strong chance of making the world champions Spain’s 23 after an impressive debut Premier League season.
Argentina face Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran and Nigeria, while 23-goal Negredo will have a chance to star for Spain against the Netherlands, Chile and Australia in the summer tournament in Brazil.
Both City stars could yet be heading to Rio de Janiero with Premier League medals, but they are an outside bet as they trail Liverpool by six points with a game-in-hand after their recent 3-2 defeat to the league leaders.
Only wins in the visits to Crystal Palace and Everton and their Etihad meetings with claret-and-blue pair Aston Villa and West Ham in their remaining games will give them a chance at their second title and Manuel Pellegrini’s second silverware as Blues boss.
