The Telegraph’s Ski and Snowboard Show North will return for a second year this weekend at Manchester’s EventCity – where you could pick up one of 20,000 lift passes on offer as the season approaches.
The show, from October 24-26 and in collaboration with Manchester’s Chill Factore, will be giving keen skiers and boarders the opportunity to get their hand on the passes by registering here.
The event will also include equipment stalls to be kitted out, including a specialist boot-fitting clinic by winter sports expert company Ellis Bingham.
For those wanting to fine-tune their technique and their skiing, there will be 30-minute virtual lessons available with the Warren Smith Ski Academy for one-on-one instruction, which touch base with all forms of ski and competition, including moguls.
One of the event’s main attractions will be the Fashion Show where all the newest designs for the upcoming winter season, whether on or off piste, will be on display by top brands to make sure you turn heads as you carve through the fresh snow.
The Show’s ‘Start-Up Village’ will give upstarting winter-sports focused businesses the opportunity to showcase their innovations unavailable on the high street with show-only deals and offers available to visitors.
All this is not just for winter sports fans either as attractions for all of the family are available with children’s slides and other interests.
The Ski and Snowboard Show will also host Animal’s WD-40 Tour which includes BMX, skating and scooter tricks on park-style features, with the tour having previously visited the city in July.
Robin Kitchin, spokesperson for the Animal WD40 Tour said: “We can’t wait to bring our stunt show to Manchester as a ski show crowd loves adrenaline-fuelled action and that is what our amazing team of riders bring by the mountain load!”
The tour has previously stopped at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix weekend, MotoGP and the Goodwood Festival of Speed after globe-trotting since its inception in 2002, undertaking over 2,000 shows.
WD-40 Tour star competitor Blake Samson, although not competing in Manchester this year, explained what the tour was.
“The tour is a down sized version of Nitro Circus with Mountain Bikes, BMX, Mountain Bike Trials and sometimes Scooters.
“For me the tour is about having fun on my bike and showing the people watching what I love to do and that cycling in general is fun.
“When I’m competing in an event in Europe or the USA, it gets serious. But at the end of the day it is fun and I love it.”
For those who consider themselves to be seasoned après skiers, Smooth Radio will provide a chill out lounge while Virgin will be providing a wine tasting with other après bars on hand to cater to you.
Aside from equipment, holiday resort companies will be available for information for first-time alpine visitors with some of the globe’s top ski resorts such as Kitzbühel-Tyrol in Austria, location of the infamous Hahnenkamm run, and Jackson Hole, home to arguably the world’s best snowboarder in Travis Rice, all on hand for any holiday queries.
In addition to hands-on activities, experienced seasonnaires will give real insights and stories into mountain life to visitors on, crucially, how stay safe on slopes as well as inspire budding adventurers.
