Seven up: Wigan boss Rosler optimistic Latics winless run will soon end

Wigan manager Uwe Rosler says there are plenty of positives his side can take forward into the clash with Millwall on Tuesday despite another failure to land three points against Brentford at the weekend.

Brentford were admittedly better in the first half but Wigan reflected well on what had gone wrong for them and pulled up their socks in the second half then were unlucky not to seize victory as the game finished goalless.

Overall the German boss felt sharing the points was a fair result but he is now focused on producing a win against another London side at home.

He said: “We’re all a little bit disappointed because we wanted to win the game but we have to analyse now and go again on Tuesday.

“Tuesday is a good chance for us, I think we have to entertain and produce better results at home – Tuesday gives a good opportunity to do that.”

Wigan have now failed to win any of their last seven games, so the former Brentford manager is well aware there is still plenty to do.

The all too familiar tale of Wigan failing to put on a good performance for the whole match was clearly on display, but facing Ian Holloway’s Millwall, who sit one place above Latics, should be a good time to turn things around.

“It was good character from the boys because sitting in the dressing room at half-time, we had been outplayed.

“So to come back, after adjusting and changing the game-plan a little bit – which worked for us much better – was good, but still a lot of things to do.”

Holloway’s men are also without a win in seven games and so it promises to be an interesting battle between the struggling teams who are desperately trying to avoid the relegation zone.
