World number one golfer and Manchester United fan Rory McIlroy has nominated Old Trafford skipper Wayne Rooney to take on the ice bucket challenge phenomenon sweeping the globe.
Seemingly every sports star is now being challenged, with American Woods nominating tennis giant Rafael Nadal while McIlroy took it away from sport by mentioning former US president George W. Bush and fashion model Meghan Markle.

Yesterday Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany won the race of the skippers as he braved the cold water, nominating fellow Belgian and Hollywood action actor Jean-Claude Van Damme for another bold stunt.
United’s Class of ’92 kicked off their own ice bucket craze to help raise awareness about fan James McCarthy, who is terminally ill.
McIlroy made an appearance at Old Trafford last weekend in an interesting suit which also had social media abuzz.
