Manchester City’s player of last season Pablo Zabaleta has given the Blues a boost by putting pen to paper on a new four-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.
The 28-year-old Argentine international was City’s standout performer last season, making his way into the PFA Team of the Year at right-back.
And ‘Zaba’ – who joined the Citizens in 2008 – feels at home at City and hopes finishing last season trophyless spurs the Blues to success under Manuel Pellegrini.
“I have been here for five years and it feels like home. Signing a contract extension with the club makes me feel very happy,” he told City’s official website.
“I feel great here, I like the Premier League, and I think Manchester City are one of the clubs looking for success in the future.
“It is a club that is very well-organised and when you see that everything works well you want to be here.
“I think we have got a great squad, fantastic players and hopefully we can win something this year.”
Zabaleta has made 175 appearances and scored eight times during his time with City, and feels the Etihad faithful deserve success for the backing they give the former Premier League champions.
“I am sure the fans will respond very well as always,” he explained.
“They are a big support for the team week in week out, and hopefully at the end of the season the fans and players can celebrate with a trophy.”
