Sorry you’ll be Fab-less: Barcelona insist Manchester United target Cesc Fabregas is ‘non-transferable’

By Marios Papaloizou

Barcelona are standing firm in their insistence that midfielder Cesc Fabregas will remain at the Nou Camp this summer.

The former Arsenal captain is the subject of a bid from Manchester United who have ambitions to make him the focal piece in a midfield revamp.

However, vice-president of the Catalan giants Josep Maria Bartomeu has reiterated the club’s desire to keep Fabregas in the famous blue and red of Barcelona.

“Barca can ensure they will not entertain any offers for Cesc. He is completely non-transferable,” Bartomeu told Spanish newspaper Sport.

The news comes as a blow to Davis Moyes who confirmed his interest in the player at a press conference earlier.

“The chief executive [Ed Woodward] has been dealing with it.

“I may have a bit more information in the next day or so about how it’s going,” Moyes said.

Asked about the club’s stance on the potential sale of Wayne Rooney, Moyes said: “There’s no change.

“As far as players we’re looking to bring in, we’re trying very hard to make some additions to the squad. Hopefully there’ll be some good news in the not too distant future.”
