Luke Shaw is certain to become the best left-back in world football, according to fellow Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.
Englishman Shaw was signed from Southampton for £30million in June following his World Cup debut but has since been warned by both Louis van Gaal and national team coach Roy Hodgson about his fitness.
Despite a heavy focus on United’s attacking signings Falcao, Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria, centre back Evans expressed his delight with the club’s vital defensive reinforcements.
“I had the chance to work with Luke [Shaw] in pre-season and there is no doubt he is going to be the best left-back in the world,” Evans told United Review.
The Belfast-born 26-year-old has also been impressed by two of last weekend’s debutants, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind, who helped United demolish QPR 4-0.
“I watched Marcos [Rojo] at the World Cup and thought he was excellent for Argentina whether he played at left-back or left wing-back, and he can play centre-back too,” added Evans.
“He (Blind) was very impressive. The manager knows him well and he’s come through the Ajax youth system, which is something the manager had a lot of input into, so he’ll understand the manager’s way of playing really well.”
United are next in action when they face promoted Leicester City at the King Power stadium at 13:30 on Sunday September 21.
