Sale Harriers athlete Rosie Semenytsh was delighted after claiming the national javelin title at the Sainsbury’s British Athletics Championships.
Semenytsh’s best throw of 49.76m was enough for the gold medal at the prestigious annual competition held at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
The 26-year-old admits the result has already left her anticipating an even better next season, after finding some form under new coach Nick Nieland.
And now she is concentrating on forging a bright future in the sport.
“I was there to win and I am really glad that I got the gold,” she said.
“The British Championships is my biggest competition so winning here was my main target this season.
“I had a really good winter and worked really hard. My coach has helped me loads this winter and I am looking forward to next season already because we have only had one season together.
“I am a lot more confident generally. I was down a couple of years ago but he has really brought me back up again.
“Confidence in throwing is really important and that is the main part I have improved.
“I am already looking forward to the winter and getting my technique even better in time for next season.”
Sainsbury’s British Championships is the second event in the Sainsbury’s Summer Series.
