A boxer who has moved on to incredible success since playing semi-professional football visited his old football club to catch up with fans after securing several championship belts.
Undefeated boxer Jack Rafferty (24-0) visited Avro football club last Wednesday night as they took on Widnes in the Northern Premier League Division West competition.
Rafferty took along his belts which he won the previous Saturday night in Liverpool after Henry Turner (13-1) was retired in the ninth round.
As a result of the fight, Rafferty won the British super light weight, Commonwealth boxing council super light weight and the WBC international silver super light weight titles.
Rafferty met with fans who admired his belts and took photographs with several of them.
“We always like seeing people from our club move on and hit goals,” said a spokesman from Avro Football Club.
“It was great for Jack to come back to Avro to visit us and cheer on the side.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to provide a win for the champ but it was awesome for our younger fans having him on the side lines.”
Avro lost the match against City of Liverpool, 3-1 after being reduced to ten men when their goalkeeper was sent off.
