Another club from Greater Manchester has filled the void and entered the Fenix Trophy after Bury FC vacated the competition.
Once news broke out The Shakers were stepping back from the European competition due to other commitments, Avro FC put their name forward and secured a spot in the trophy.
Milan-based football club Brera FC organises the competition, which launched in the 2021/2022 season.
Each club is chosen for its exceptional social, historical and cultural distinctiveness, and the competition has received UEFA’s approval.
Oldham-based Avro FC announced they have now entered in Bury’s place and will take on Gilla FC after getting permission from their league.
Gilla FC was founded in Helsinki, Finland just over two years ago.
They have already tasted success after promotion from the Kutonen to the Vitonen, the seventh level in the Finnish football league system.
The match’s location and date are yet to be determined.
A delighted Avro Club chairman Rob Fuller said: “It’s a great honour to represent our town and county in this prestigious tournament.
“We are proud to support the idea of clubs supporting each other and sharing the common goal of promoting the wonderful game.”
