Javi Garcia looked more like his namesake Sergio when he tried his hand at golf during City’s Scotland tour.
The Spaniard may not be carding a round at Royal Liverpool for the Open this weekend, but showed he could certainly putt up a good show.
With compatriots Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo, Garcia messed about at the team’s hotel and expertly tapped the golf ball through his teammate’s legs like a professional.
While not quite reaching the heights of national golfing legend Seve Ballesteros, Garcia showed he has what it takes to rule the greens – but the only patch of grass he needs to focus on making an impression on is The Etihad’s pitch.
The former Benfica man, 27, played a bit-part role during Manchester City’s Premier League success last year, making 43 appearances in all competitions.
Garcia joined the club in the summer of 2012 in a £16 million move from Portugal.
City fell to a 2-0 defeat in their pre-season opener against Dundee at the weekend with Garcia featuring in the second half as Manuel Pellegrini rang the changes after the break.
The next port of call for the Blues is a clash against Scottish Championship side Hearts on Friday as they build match fitness and form ahead of their title defence.
Their first slice of competitive action will be the Community Shield against Arsenal on August 10.
