Hyde claimed their first three points of the season in the Skrill Premier as they won 2-0 away at Welling United to send the Tigers fans into a frenzy.
Louis Almond and Connor Hughes scored the crucial goals to cap an excellent performance to end a barren run that included four draws and 23 defeats.
After being under pressure throughout the campaign, Scott McNiven was in jubilant mood as his continued positivity was rewarded as he celebrated with his staff at the final whistle.
Their 1-1 draw with Southport at the weekend was a result of a poor final ball according to McNiven but they responded in emphatic fashion and were fully deserving of their victory.
“All the credit goes to the lads, I thought their work rate was unbelievable. I’m so pleased for everyone at the club to finally get a win that we’ve deserved for a long time,” he said.
“Thankfully everything’s gone right for us so I’m delighted. We had a little bit of lady luck at last and hopefully it’s a sign of things to come.”
He was full of praise for all his players particularly striker Louis Almond who opened the scoring just before the hour mark and defender Adam Blakeman who is continuing to grow as a player.
“Louis is an outstanding player and Blakey’s just getting better and better, he’s developing into a top glass left back in my eyes and he’s been our best player in the last four games and working alongside Louis, they’re doing well.”
The Tigers fans were also praised by McNiven for their continued support in the face of adversity as they have had to endure a turbulent season which has seen their team on the end of many crushing defeats.
“They’ve been vocal all season and they sing their heart for the lads, they never stopped backing them and I’ve not heard one boo from them all season no matter what,” he said.
“They are a testament to the club, they prove what a great club Hyde is and they deserve massive credit and they’re a massive push for the lads to keep on going and we graft to the last minute, to our very last breath.”
Hyde are now up to seven points and they will look to continue in the same fashion when they face 15th place Forest Green Rovers at Ewen Fields on Saturday.
