Oldham’s trip to Rotherham United on Saturday concludes a strange week of highs and lows for Latics fans.
They could be forgiven for forgetting they even have a League 1 match this weekend following Marwan Koukash outlining ambitious takeover plans to transform the club and propel them up the divisions.
This boost was preceded by a 2-1 defeat at Preston on Monday night.
Lee Johnson’s side are currently in the familiar territory of lower mid-table in 14th, despite dominating games more often than not; an issue the manager to keen to address this weekend.
Johnson told the club official website: “It will be tough, they are flying.
“We’ve been playing well, so we are going into the game full of confidence. Our luck has to change.
“We’ve had too much of the ball and too many chances for wins not to come.”
The trip across the Pennines certainly looks a daunting one. Their opponents sit fourth in the table and are unbeaten in the league so far this season, whilst Johnson’s men have lost their last two games.
The Latics can be buoyed though by the fact that they have already netted four times on two separate occasions away from home this season, as they look to exploit a Rotherham side that has only won once at home this season.
The club are hopeful defender James Tarkowski will pass a fitness test, having picked up a knock to his leg in his goal scoring performance at Deepdale.
Connor Brown continues to miss out following surgery on his knee this week, but the 21 year-old should be back within six to eight weeks, following initial fears that he could be sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
