‘Bring him on’: Amir Khan calls out Floyd Mayweather ahead of American’s mega-fight in Las Vegas

By Arandeep Singh Dhillon

A mega-money fight between Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather Jr is being lined up for next May.

The Bolton boxer has previously been linked with a fight against the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and now hopes for the fight to take place.

“When you are young the dream is to be world champion and now the dream is to fight and beat Mayweather,” he told the Daily Star.

“My dream is to fight Mayweather, and for us to come together in the UK would be marvellous.

“I have never ducked a challenge and always want to fight the best – and they just don’t come any better than Mayweather.”

Golden Boy Promotions chief Richard Schaefer has also hinted there is a possibility of a showdown between the two.

He told the paper: “Amir has told me he wants the fight and there is no reason why it should not take place, with Wembley being a very viable venue.

“Whenever it takes place, you would get more than 80,000 fans inside Wembley and that will be a huge fight to have and one that I know Amir’s very keen on.”

Mayweather, 36, is preparing for his most lucrative fight to date – tomorrow’s bout with Mexican Saul Alvarez.

The American is set to receive at least $41.5m (£26.25) from the fight.

Mayweather heads into the bout unbeaten in 44 fights with Alvarez without a loss in his 43.
