KSI vs Tommy Fury: Everything you need to know about ‘The Prime Card’

Popular British YouTube and music artist KSI will take on Manchester’s Tommy Fury at a sold-out AO Arena on Saturday night.

In what has been labelled the biggest influencer boxing event of all time, KSI will face Tommy Fury – brother of the boxing heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – in a highly anticipated showdown.

Stakes are high for both men as KSI looks to set up a super fight with long-term rival Jake Paul and Fury deals with an increase in media attention after Netflix documentary At Home With The Furys gave fans a closer look at life with popular wife Molly-Mae and their family.

What is “The Prime Card”?

“The Prime Card” is the name that has been given to this weekend’s boxing action in Manchester.

The name comes from the sports hydration drink PRIME that both KSI and Logan Paul are major stakeholders in.

As both KSI and Paul are fighting in the main and co-main events of the boxing card, it has been labelled the PRIME card to promote the drink.

How to watch KSI vs Tommy Fury?

The event is available around the world on DAZN – a popular sports streaming service – as a pay-per-view event.

Viewers in the UK will be charged £19.99 for the event.

Preliminary fights begin at 7 pm with the main event expected to begin approximately five hours later.

What to expect?

KSI heads into Saturday night with a record of five wins, one draw and, most recently, a no-contest after an accidental elbow knocked out opponent Joe Fournier in the first round.

Known for his unorthodox style, we can expect that the 30-year-old will put the pressure on Fury straight away as he chases another knockout to add to his impressive highlight reel.

Like his opponent, Tommy Fury is unbeaten with nine professional wins and a brief amateur career before turning pro in 2018.

The 24-year-old is coming off a career-highlight win over KSI’s long-term rival Jake Paul in February and has vowed that a win on Saturday will end YouTube boxing.

Due to his experience and family links to boxing, Tommy Fury is the heavy favourite heading into the bout at 1/5 to beat KSI. c

What’s next?

A win for KSI on Saturday night would undoubtedly be the biggest moment in his boxing career.

Defeating a professional boxer with the name value carried by Fury would certainly validate the YouTuber’s skills as a boxer and demonstrate that he is the best influencer boxer.

If he can pull it off, KSI would also set up the much-anticipated clash with fellow YouTuber Jake Paul at the beginning of next year.

For Fury, it’s hard to say what a win over KSI would mean other than another big payday which will continue to build his name

Whilst a return to traditional boxing is possible, it is likely that Tommy would continue to fight in the influencer scene, with a rematch with either KSI or Jake Paul a probable next step.

Who else is on the card?

The co-main event will see American YouTuber Logan Paul face controversial MMA fighter Dillon Danis in a highly anticipated bout.

In the build-up to this fight, Danis – best known as a long-term training partner of MMA icon Conor McGregor – has sparked debate due to a targeted campaign against Paul’s fiancee, supermodel Nina Agdal.

In a series of social media posts, Danis has shared explicit images and videos of Agdal leading to claims that he is harassing an innocent woman.

Agdal has launched a lawsuit against Danis, claiming he has posted more than 250 despicable things about her, causing both emotional distress and reputational harm

Despite the controversial nature, this drama has undoubtedly boosted excitement for the fight.

The remainder of the card is made up of a selection of the very best in the influencer boxing scene as YouTube, Tik Tok and social media stars put it all on the line to make a name for themselves in the boxing world.
