Noel Gallagher has claimed his ‘sunglasses will have to be permanently strapped to his face’ to enjoy his beloved Manchester City’s bright future, after they clinched the Premier League title.
The former Oasis guitarist, along with fellow Blue ex-Smith’s man Johnny Marr, joined thousands of fans on the Etihad pitch to celebrate City’s title winning success.
Skipper Vincent Kompany scored the second goal as City’ eased to a 2-0 win over West Ham – a far cry from the last-gasp title win in 2012.

“It was a lot easier than last time. I thought we were great today and with what we have epitomised all season – we were very professional,” Noel said.
“Vinny gave me the captain’s armband and to be here and see all this has been amazing and I hope it continues for a long time.
“We deserve it and we are not a flash in the pan now and we can go on and win three or four. We deserve it more than anyone.”
With City only needing a point to tie up their second title in three years, Sami Nasri eased any nerves that may have been present by putting them in the driving seat before Kompany killed off any hope of Liverpool spoiling City’s big day.
And Noel, 46, believes the lack of last-gasp heroics led to a sweeter success this time around – but the next target is to have a title clinched before the final day.
“I think the key was that we didn’t have to win the game. Liverpool were not going to win 14-0. It was a lot calmer than last time,” he said.
“Maybe next time we can win it before the last game so we can have a real party.”
With two titles in the bag, Noel has tipped the Blues to make it a hat-trick – but insists that success will never change the club’s long-suffering supporters outlook.

“The future’s bright. I wear sunglasses a lot but I think I’m going to have to get them permanently strapped to my face now,” Noel said.
“It must have been one of the greatest seasons ever here. I’m still getting over the last league championship.
“We never take things for granted. At my age, I am nearly 50, we never take this for granted. I have been through it all, Gillingham and playing York and daft clubs like that. I’ll never get used to it.”
Looking ahead, Noel acknowledged that City’s oil-rich rise maybe halted by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules on the European front – but the Blues are set to reign supreme domestically.
“Next season will be very interesting with the financial thing,” he said.
“We have got a great manager and we will get another couple of years out of the players, they’re getting on a bit now – but we will get another couple of years.”
