A Crewe dog lover and Willow, her 11-year-old pooch proved every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at Crufts.
Willow was one of more than 21,500 happy, healthy dogs at the NEC in Birmingham for the world’s biggest dog show, presented by the Kennel Club, and put her best paw forward to claim a prestigious Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year award.
Owner Sheli Brown and Willow, a cocker spaniel and Bedlington terrier cross, claimed victory in the Golden Oldie category.
And the pair narrowly missed out on the overall prize, which was claimed by Wylie – a dog rescued from abuse in Afghanistan by British soldiers – and owner Sarah Singleton, from Yeovil.
But children’s therapist Sheli insisted the pair had enjoyed a fantastic time at the NEC in Birmingham, taking to the ring in front of a TV crowd of millions watching at home.
“It’s absolutely brilliant, it’s a really nice feeling to be here,” she said.
“We’ve just had a really fun time, it’s about enjoying the moment at Crufts because we got so far. It’s such a great show and Willow did great.”
