Dougie Freedman is determined to make his Bolton Wanderers side much more consistent as he looks to build on Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Doncaster Rovers.
Goals from on-loan striker Joe Mason, Andre Moritz and Neil Danns gave Bolton their biggest victory of the season and only their second win at the Reebok Stadium in the league.
Now Freedman wants to get his side up to a position more fitting than the 15th place they currently occupy in the Championship table.
“The challenge for the team now is to get some consistency,” Freedman told the Bolton website.
“If we can build on the momentum from this game then we can climb the league table very quickly.”
Freedman was also delighted by how his side responded after back-to-back defeats last week which had begun to test the patience of the Bolton’s fans.
“We played very well but I am pleased with the way we bounced back from two defeats.
“It is quite hard to take defeats, especially when those defeats come at home so to bounce back in the way that we did is very pleasing.
“It was a very good performance and we have sent the fans home happy.”
Bolton fans will also be pleased with the scoreline after the Trotters lack of goals this season saw them averaging less than a goal a game in the league before Saturday.
Giving on-loan striker Mason his full debut paid off for Freedman as he opened the scoring for Bolton in the first half with a deflected effort.
The lead was doubled moments later when Moritz struck from outside the box and Bolton capped a good performance when substitute Danns scored in the dying minutes.
Moritz’s performance gained special praise from Freedman, who will hope for more of the same from the Brazilian next week when Bolton travel to face neighbours Wigan Athletic.
“The link up play between the midfield and attack was superb.
“Andre Moritz was excellent, he is a very intelligent player and we saw his confidence grow throughout.
“As a team we looked sharp and we took our chances at the right time which always helps so its credit to the lads for that.”
