Manchester City could face battle to lure £27million Stevan Jovetic away from Fiorentina’s deadly attack

By Glen Keogh

Manchester City target Stevan Jovetic could make a surprise U-turn on his plans to leave Fiorentina with the Italian club looking set to hold one of Europe’s most feared strike-forces next season.

Having previously expressed his desire to switch Fiorentina for a move to the Premier League or Juventus, the 23-year-old Montenegrin star has now backtracked on his initial claims.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport report that Fiorentina’s frantic transfer activity this summer could encourage him to stay.

The star striker has a buy-out clause of £27million, which makes him an attractive option for Premier League clubs.

City are looking to bolster their attacking options after the departure of Carlos Tevez to Juventus and Mario Balotelli to AC Milan in January, and a number of Europe’s top forwards have been rumoured.

However, it now seems it would take a special offer to lure Jovetic from Florence, after the club signed Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez and will have a fully-fit Guiseppe Rossi at their disposal for the new campaign.

Manchester City could face stiff English competition if they pursue the talented youngster, as Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all said to be keen.
