Salford City are looking to end a run of five games without a win in League Two when they travel to Bradford City this Saturday.
Their Yorkshire opponents have turned a corner under former Salford manager Graham Alexander and have won their last four fixtures convincingly.
And with Valley Parade proving to arguably be the most intimidating atmosphere in League Two Salford forward Conor McAleny understands the difficult task in hand.
He said: “Alexander’s sides do a lot of running, have a lot of high energy. We know we’ve got to go there and quieten the crowd.”
The need for a good performance doesn’t need mentioning among anyone involved within the club.
But there will be hope that a win can kickstart the season like last season as The Ammies had a strong December following a poor October and Novemeber to reach the play-offs.
And with the team playing three sides fighting relegation over the festive period McAleny is hopeful of a similar trajectory this campaign.
He said: “If we get nine points from those three games, we would fly up the table.
“A lot of good things can happen once you get momentum in this league.”
This optimism stems from the belief that the squad have in manager Neil Wood, despite growing pressure around his position
McAleny said: “We have total faith in him.
“Lads like to play under him, training is great, it’s a high standard every day. The way of playing and tactic are great.”
The old cliché is that when looking to course correct a poor run of form you start to take it one game at a time.
And Salford are no different as McAleny said: “It’s a ruthless environment.
“But with small steps, win your next game, keep a clean sheet.
“A lot of good things can happen once you get momentum.”
Saturday at 3pm is the first opportunity that Salford have to demonstrate this approach to the rest of the season with the ramifications of a loss unthinkable.
