Bury manager David Flitcroft will attempt to bring in a defender when the loan window opens next week, despite his side being unbeaten in their last five matches.
Flitcroft was pleased with a goalless away draw against Wycombe on Saturday, a side who lie one place above them in the playoff positions in League Two.
However, while they kept a clean sheet, Flitcroft admitted that he may need to add one more face in the loan market to offer defensive cover.
The Shakers have experimented with both three at the back and a flat back four so the new defender will most likely be versatile and able to adapt to both formations.
“It’s a place that we might need a little bit of cover,” said Flitcroft.
“We’re going to be alright, we’ve got the numbers [and] we’ve designed it that way. We’ll just have to dip in and bring maybe one more back in.”
Bury have entered a good spell of form, winning their last two matches at Gigg Lane whilst winning one and drawing two out of the last three on their travels.
“It’s a good feeling to be unbeaten,” said Flitcroft.
“We’ll keep striving forward and keep getting points and keep going unbeaten.”
The manager also responded to their recent Johnstone’s Paint Trophy draw at home to Morecambe.
Morecambe lie third in League Two and represent a tough draw but Flitcroft was pleased to at least hold home advantage.
“It’s a good draw as it cuts down the travelling. There’re some very good teams in the northern section.
“It’s one we’re looking forward to, they’ve had a great start. It’s a good cup for lower league teams to be involved in.”
Bury lie sixth in League Two after six matches and face a trip to struggling Carlisle in their next match where they will hope to keep their good run of form going.
