Diver Tom Daley will take centre stage on Monday as he looks to add to the 10m platform bronze he won four years ago at London 2012.
It’s a straight final for Daley who will be competing at the outdoor setting of the Maria Lenk Aquatics centre in Rio.
Joining Daley in the hunt for medals will be the men’s gymnastics team whose team final will see them look to improve on their fifth place in qualifying and emulate last year’s World Championship silver and the Olympic bronze medal won four years ago.
There could also be an historic medal for Team GB women’s rugby sevens side as they look to become one of the first nations in 108 years to win an Olympic rugby medal. They are all set to take on New Zealand in the semi-final in the evening with more possibly to come later.
The women’s hockey return to action, this time against India, where they hope to make it two wins from two.
Meanwhile at the shooting, Ed Ling has his sights set on reaching the trap final with judoka Nekoda Davis-Smythe stepping onto the mat in the women’s 57kg division.
Swimming also continues at pace with world 200m freestyle champion James Guy going in the final late in the evening.
William Fox-Pitt competes in the cross-country element of eventing still clear at the top of the individual rankings with the team nicely poised in fourth before the action concludes on Tuesday.
Monday sees Britain’s sailors make their first outing at Rio 2016 with Nick Thompson (Laser), Alison Young (Laser Radial), Nick Dempsey (RS:X) and Bryony Shaw (RS:X) all in action at the Marina de Gloria in Guanabara Bay.
Continuing the water theme, Team GB’s rowers are set for a busy day following Sunday’s postponement of racing due to high winds.
No less than eight crews will be on the Lagoa across heats and repechages, including women’s pair champions Helen Glover and Heather Stanning.
Tennis wise, Jo Konta and Heather Watson are back in action in the singles – and doubles together – and Kyle Edmund goes in the men’s singles.
Paul Drinkhall takes on Croatia’s Andrej Gacina in the third round of the table tennis while there are Rio bows for boxers Antony Fowler and Josh Kelly and David Florence and Richard Hounslow go in the canoe slalom C2 heats with Fiona Pennie in the women’s K1.
