We Jav what it takes: Manchester United’s Hernandez ready for Bayern spot after Newcastle rout

Javier Hernandez hopes the performance of Manchester United’s terrific trio upfront at Newcastle will earn them a spot against Bayern Munich in midweek.

United, with dynamic duo Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, ripped through Newcastle at St. James’ Park to romp to a 4-0 win.

The Mexican, who starred in attack alongside Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa, hopes their performance gives manager David Moyes a selection headache.

“We’re all ready and we want to make the gaffer have a difficult position,” Hernandez told MUTV.

“We all want to play in the game at Bayern Munich and we proved that today.

“You see players like Shinji, me and Mata, Antonio Valencia at right-back and Adnan Januzaj coming in – it was a good performance and a good result.”

The trio, later joined by substitute Adnan Januzaj, proved to be a lethal combination.

Spaniard Mata followed up his first United goal last week with two against at St James’ Park, the first from a free-kick and the second finishing off a superb team move after half-time.

Hernandez added the third before Januzaj latched onto a Mata backheel to round off the thumping win.

Hernandez praised the role United’s record signing Mata played in the victory.

“It’s unbelievable – you can see that he’s going to be a very important player for this club,” Hernandez said.

“He needed to get used to the way that we play and the way the manager wants us to play.

“You can see what he is capable of, with assists, with free-kicks and to score goals.

“He’s a very important, clever player.”

United travel to Munich on Wednesday to face Champions League holders Bayern.

The Bundesliga champions lost for the first time in 53 games on Saturday in a 1-0 defeat to eighth-placed Ausburg.

Moyes’ side know that with the current scoreline of 1-1 from the first leg seeing Bayern through on away goals, they need to score in the Allianz Arena.

The influential Mata is cup-tied and Rooney is an injury doubt, leaving Moyes relying on the likes of Hernandez and Kagawa to pull off a famous win.
