Oldham Athletic manager Lee Johnson says his League One side are already displaying all the signs of a side capable of winning when playing nowhere near their best.
The former Premier League team drew with Peterborough on Saturday to sit 12th in the table after they extended their unbeaten run to eight.
Jonathan Forte poked Oldham in front before goals either side of half-time from Michael Bostwick and Marcus Maddison with a stunning 30-yard free-kick saw Peterborough go in front.
But Genseric Kusunga headed in from a corner midway through the second half to ensure the points were shared.
“I was disappointed we didn’t win because I wanted us to be more in touch with the playoffs but we have got to keep plugging away,” Johnson told the club’s website.
“Partnerships are still being built in the squad and it will only get better.
“It’s really important, when you’re not playing at your absolute best, that you can still dig in and get results. I think that’s what this team’s got this year.
“We came out with a point but it could have gone either way but it is a good sign because even when we aren’t at our best, we are picking up points.”
While he had mixed feelings about the result, Johnson was unreserved in his praise of the 361 Latics’ fans who made the trip down the A1.
“The fans were fantastic again today,” Johnson said.
“They never stopped singing and I’m sure they will go home reasonably pleased with the team’s performance.”
