Howard Webb retired from refereeing today sparking a stream of posts from Twitter users branding the officiator a ‘Manchester United legend’.
The former police officer turned referee drew criticism during his 11-year spell in the Premier League for his supposed favouritism of United.
Webb notably awarded more penalties to the club (nine) than any other in his career.

The best of the testimonials included Footy Humour’s claim that Webb retired so he could “spend more time with his family,” along with an attached photo of him with a family of Fergies.
