Following their 3-1 win over Blackpool on Saturday, Wigan manager Malky Mackay insists his side will take on Norwich City tonight with back-to-back wins in mind.
Bo-Kyung Kim, Harry Maguire and James McClean all scored at Bloomfield Road to lead the Latics to victory over the Tangerines, but they are still nine points from safety going into their match this evening.
The Canaries are in the play-off positions and are unbeaten in seven games but despite their fantastic form recently, Mackay is confident that following their win, Wigan will be hungry for more.
He said: “Norwich are very strong, they’ve got a very experienced squad which is full of quality and the club as a whole is doing well at the moment, but we’re going there in a bullish mood after our win against Blackpool.
“It’s another tough one and they’re on a very good run. I watched their local derby against Ipswich Town at the weekend and they won convincingly, so we know what we’re up against.
“Alex [Neil] has done a really good job at Carrow Road so far. He did an excellent job at Hamilton and his transition into Norwich has been seamless.”
Blue and white fans came together to sing 90 songs in 90 minutes in the seaside town last weekend which evidently worked tremendously as the Latics blasted the net three times.
Mackay has expressed how thankful he is for how much the fans helped Latics on the day and he was he hopes that the players will once again be able to reward them with three points tonight.
The Scotsman added: “I know that those who travel to Norfolk will be there in good voice and the lads are desperate to give them a positive result to take with them on the long and winding road home.
“It was terrific to see 2,000 of our fans singing constantly for 90 minutes on Saturday, they really helped us on the day and it was great for them to be rewarded with three goals and three points.”
Mackay has said there are no fresh injury concerns heading into the game with Norwich which kicks off at 19:45.
