Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick widely mocked in ‘abusive’ Twitter question and answer session

By Marios Papaloizou

A seemingly harmless Twitter question and answer session descended into misery for Manchester United’s Michael Carrick who was widely mocked on the social network site.

The #AskCarrick attracted a huge number of tweets from users who decided to poke a little fun at the midfielder and his underperforming team mates.

While Carrick’s slow-paced style attracted much criticism it was fellow midfielder Tom Cleverley who was the target of many of the mocking tweets.

While it was mainly fans having a pop at the England man one famous Tweeter popped up to ask Carrick about his conspicous absence from the United team

And it wasn’t just Carrick and Cleverley who were the butt of the Twitter jokes; winger Ashley Young was also subjected to mockery.

While the abuse kept coming Carrick seemed to take it in his stride and signed off with a thank you tweet for all the questions.

The composed midfielder might have appeared unmoved by the mocking tweets but whether he decides to venture online for a question and answer session again remains to be seen.
