James Anderson has been recognised by the ICC with nominations as Cricketer and Test Cricketer of the Year.
The Lancashire and England bowler has also been named in the ICC Test and One-Day teams of the year.
Anderson is second on the list of England’s all-time wicket takers behind Sir Ian Botham and will spearhead the attack for the second Ashes test which starts on Thursday.
The swing bowler now has 331 test wickets for England and another brilliant year for Anderson, including another Ashes series victory, has been recognised by the ICC.
Anderson is joined by his England captain Alastair Cook on the shortlist for the Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, with the pair up against four names from other nations.
Australia captain Michael Clarke, who England will face on Thursday, Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara, South Africa’s Hashim Amla and India’s MS Dhoni make up the list.
Anderson will also be in the running for the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award, where the winner will be announced on December 14.
Amla and Clarke also feature on this list, along with South Africa’s Dale Steyn and Indian pair Ravichandran Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Anderson made his test debut for England in 2003 and ten years later is the leader of an England bowling attack now seeking its fourth successive Ashes win.
He took 22 wickets in the last Ashes series and is currently 52 wickets short of becoming England’s leading Test Match wicket taker heading into Thursday’s test in Adelaide.
His test match performances across the last year have seen Anderson named in the ICC Test Team of the Year, with teammates Cook and Graeme Swann.
Anderson has also performed well in One-Day Internationals this year and has been rewarded with a place on the One-Day Team of the Year – the only England player in the team.
