Brazilian midfielder Anderson has heaped more misery on Manchester United fans’ already bleak season by sensationally claiming that ‘lots of players want out’ of the Old Trafford club.
After losing their eighth game of the Premier League season at Stoke on Saturday, United sit seventh and are seven points adrift of the coveted Champions League spots.
Despite the arrival of Juan Mata for a club-record fee rumours persist about the futures of big name players – with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie reportedly unsettled at Old Trafford.
“I’m sure that lots of players want out, especially people like myself and Nani, who have been in Manchester for seven or eight years,” Anderson told a pre-match press conference.
“Manchester United is a huge club a club that does everything for its players but sometimes a footballer wants to leave just to experience a different way to play football, to learn something as well.”
The comments will heap further pressure on United boss David Moyes who is under intense scrutiny after failing to kick-start an increasingly poor season.
After falling out of favor at the club Anderson joined Italian club Fiorentina on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old joined the Red Devils in 2007, but has consistently been on the fringes of United’s first team after a career blighted with injuries.
Anderson, who has made 179 appearances for United, also insisted that he was at Fiorentina to stay, despite his move to the Viola only being a loan.
“I want to stay here [in Florence]. Playing in Manchester was great. It’s a prestigious club with a lot of history.
“I’ve been there seven or eight years and I’m thankful to be here, to show Fiorentina my quality and fight for a spot in the starting line-up. I thank all Manchester United fans for their love, but I’m here to stay.”
