David Flitcroft said his side has learnt lessons from their recent 2-2 draw against Wigan as they held on against a late Blackpool comeback in their 4-3 win.
The Shakers raced into a 3-1 lead inside 30 minutes as Danny Rose scored twice from corner deliveries and Chris Hussey added a free kick from out wide.
Tom Soares scored a 25-yard effort but Blackpool came back into the match as Clark Robertson’s header added to Mark Cullen’s earlier tap-in and a late Seasiders’ penalty increased the Bury nerves.
Flitcroft contrasted last month’s game against Wigan, where the Shakers had been in control for large parts but conceded twice in the final ten minutes, with the Blackpool match.
“We conceded late against Wigan and I think sometimes that’s in the back of your mind,” he said.
“So to concede another late one and then its 4-3 to actually get the win and stay strong that’s the kind of character you need to get three points.
“It’s what I said a few weeks ago turn one point into three – it doesn’t half build points on that table- that was massive and I’m delighted with the win.”
The win lifted Bury back into sixth and the play-off places, behind rivals Wigan only on goal difference, as they recorded a first victory in five games.
Bury will be looking for revenge against the Lactics this weekend as they square off at Gigg Lane in the FA Cup first round.
