Sale Sharks’ Director of Rugby Steve Diamond says the signing of experienced winger Marland Yarde shows the side’s intent to pursue quality signings to help them climb the table.
Yarde, who boasts more than 100 Premiership appearances and 13 caps for England, joins on a three-year deal with Sale also looking to add a prop, second row and centre.
Releasing a statement on Sale Sharks’ official website, Diamond said: “Marland is a very exciting player and he will very much suit our attacking style of play.
“Though Marland has lots of experience he’s still very young with his best years ahead of him.
“I am sure that he will fit in perfectly with the rest of our squad and we are all very excited about welcoming Marland to Sale Sharks.
“Marland fits our criteria of international class recruitment and our search for a world-class lock, prop and centre continues.”
Sale have had an indifferent start to the Premiership season, with two wins and five losses in their seven games so far.
The highlight of the season so far came in round five with a 57-10 win over Gloucester, although losses to Harlequins and most recently Exeter Chiefs have somewhat overshadowed the victory.
Yarde joins a very strong backs department as he will be competing with fellow England international Denny Solomona as well as the likes of ex-rugby league winger Josh Charnley and Byron McGuigan.
John Kingston, Director of Rugby at Harlequins, said: “We have enjoyed working together over the last three years and I want to thank him for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.
“He’s played really well for us this year, but the decision for Harlequins to allow Marland to speak to Sale was made because I felt it was in the best interest of the club.”
