George Galloway arrives in Parliament ahead of Chancellor’s Budget

George Galloway has taken his seat in Parliament, after his landslide victory in the Rochdale by-election on Thursday night.

Representing the Workers Party of Britain, the 69-year-old recited the oath as he took his place in the House of Commons.

Speaking about his return, he said: “I always loved the building – the people in it, not quite so much.”

George Galloway won with 12,335 votes when his manifesto focused on the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

On being sworn in, he said: “We stand at a very dangerous crossroads, in our country’s affairs.

“I’ll have plenty to say about Rochdale, England, Britain and the international situation.

“My constituency of Rochdale is one of the poorest in the whole country, it’s heart has been taken out. It’s my job to make Rochdale great again. It was great and shouldn’t it not be great again?”

“I will attempt to speak in the Prime Minister Questions on Wednesday”, he added.

On Wednesday, the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will be laying out the government’s spending plans in the Budget.
