Stretford Socials returns to the town centre tomorrow – this time with a Valentine’s Day theme.
The free event, taking place on the first Saturday of every month inside Stretford Mall, brings together local traders, crafters and food stalls, alongside live music and activities for children.
This month will feature Valentine’s Day cookie decorating, a children’s crafting table and a Stretford storytime with author Jessica Taylor.
Branded ‘a monthly celebration of everything local’, the event was launched back in October last year.
The organisers said: “Stretford Socials is set to bring a whole new dimension to Saturday afternoons in Stretford.
“It includes a whole raft of community support activity with lots of local charities and fundraising activities taking place, all designed by the local community for the local area.”
It forms part of the ongoing regeneration of Stretford Town Centre in partnership between Trafford Council and Bruntwood Works, who acquired the mall site in 2019.
Following an extensive public consultation period there are now far-reaching plans underway to reinvent the area, including removing the roof from part of the existing 60s mall to create an open-air high street, opening up access to the nearby Bridgewater Canal, and building a variety of new housing, as well as two new squares and a public park.
Works are already well under way at the site but there remains a variety of food and drink options open to visit, including the Hive bar, SoulJuice and Uplift Cafe.
The Stretford Socials event will take place at the SQ in Stretford Mall on Saturday 3rd February between 12pm and 4pm.
