A Manchester club is promoting an indoor, fast-paced version of football with the hope of boosting the growth of the sport.
Manchester Futsal club train and play their home matches in the centre of the circuit at the National Cycling Centre, known as the home of British cycling.
Futsal originated in South America and is an indoor, five-a-side version of football characterised by its fast pace and quick decision making.
The club sit second in tier one of the National Futsal Series and are fighting for the title – having strengthened their squad since last season.
Founder and chairman of the club, Simon Wright, said: “The main thing is opportunity. If people can find us as a club we can hopefully bring them into the sport.
“They can play futsal, stay with the club and connect with our community, even representing the club and the city.”
Club bosses hope their success will encourage others to get involved in the sport and help bring about new recognition surrounding futsal.
