In the heart of Manchester, a city synonymous with football history, the National Football Museum remains a major attraction for fans and is currently ranked ninth best in Europe according to data analyzed by Live Football Tickets.
The data collected from customer reviews on TripAdvisor, a user-generated content platform, combined with the admission costs of football museums across Europe, was used to rank the best museums for football fans.
According to the rankings, the National Football Museum ranks ninth with a score of 7.0 out of 10, while the Greek Football Museum in Chania, Greece, takes the top spot with a score of 9.7.
The Greek Football Museum captivates visitors with its collection of over 1,000 objects, including World Cup footballs and official shirts from Euro games. Additionally, its free entry policy, one of only two football museums in Europe offering this, makes it appealing to fans. And of the 1,013 reviews, 95% of those rate the experience in Chania five stars – the highest among the top 10.
In second place is the Red Star Museum in Belgrade, Serbia. Since its opening in 1985, fans have continued to explore the club’s unique history and enjoyed viewing the museum’s 680 exhibits. With an affordable entry fee and positive visitor feedback, the museum earns a score of 8.5.
The Scottish Football Museum in Glasgow secures the third-best rating with 8.4. At £8 per person, it is considered as one of the most affordable in Europe. Exhibits on display include artefacts which highlights football and Scotland’s mining heritage – made possible with a recent grant of £51,914 to the Scottish Football Museum.
Despite its ninth place position, the National Football Museum in Manchester holds its own as visitors recognise its appreciable collection, with 49.63% rating it five stars. The museum also revealed its latest annual visitor figures has improved by 19% year on year.
The CR7 Museum in Funchal, Portugal; The Football Museum in Bucharest; Museo Del Calcio in Florence; Juventus Museum in Turin; Benfica Museum in Lisbon; and the German Football Museum in Dortmund complete the top 10 list.
