Pedal power Mollie King shows relief on arrival in MediaCity

Mollie King arrives in Salford on the third day of her pedal power for Comic Relief.

At 17:45 on March 12, the former Saturdays singer cycled into MediaCityUK, after setting off from Burton-Upon-Trent that morning.

Travelling 100km each day, over five days, the presenter looked exhausted as she cycled into the piazza outside the BBC studios.

On her arrival she said on Radio 1: “Its been by far the hardest day so far, I had moments when I was literally just crying on the bike.

The cycle still has two days to go and when Mollie entered the pop up studio in Salford the total was £256,114.

Dressed in a luminous jacket and red helmet, Mollie reacted by saying on Clara Amfo’s show: “Oh my gosh, I have no words – thank you.”

The cycle Mollie is doing is a journey from London to Hull, her late father’s birthplace. Stops in between include Worcester, Burton-Upon-Trent, Manchester and Leeds.

In November 2022, Mollie’s dad, Stephen, passed away due to a brain tumour, just three months after he learnt of his diagnosis.

Previous Radio One DJs to raise money for comic relief include, Arielle Free in 2023, Jordan North in 2022 and Greg James in 2018.
