A £200,000 project to improve a park in Prestwich has been completed.
Changes to Prestwich Clough and St Mary’s Flower Park over winter include increased accessibility of footpaths, more seating and signage, replacing damaged or missing fencing, and carrying out tree works.
The project was funded by Bury Council (£126,000), Veolia Environmental Trust (£75,000), and Section 106 funding (£10,000).
The works were carried out by contractors who were overseen by Proffitts, a British community interest company that specialises in regenerating green spaces.
Councillor Alan Quinn said: “Providing quality green spaces that support people to spend time outdoors in nature is really beneficial, and we’re confident that visitors will now find it much easier to explore and enjoy these attractive local facilities.”
Proffitts worked in close consultation with visitors, residents, and community groups, including Prestwich Environmental Forum and the Friends of St Mary’s Flower Park to make the requisite improvements.
